Janney Research Analysts Receive 2006 Best Analyst Stock Picker & Earning Estimator Awards

Janney Montgomery Scott LLC Research Analysts receive top Stock Picker and Earnings Estimator awards from Forbes.com / Starmine listings. Analysts are ranked by Starmine, who gathers data and scores performances for accuracy in earnings forecasts and returns on stock recommendations. The top Stock Pickers from Janney included Mitch Pinheiro for the Food industry (#1) and Rick Weiss for the Thrifts and Mortgage Finance industry (#3).

In 2005, Pinheiro was inducted into The Wall Street Journal’s Analysts Hall of Fame. This is an elite group of analysts who have been honored for earning top rankings in the newspaper’s “Best on the Street” survey year after year.

Top Earnings Estimators recognized from Janney included: Al Savastano for Thrifts and Mortgage Finance (#1) and Tom McCrohan for Capital Markets (#2).

Offering insight that is One Step Ahead, Janney researchers hold a rare combination of talent and expertise in both industry and stock selection. The Janney research team focuses on mid-small capitalization companies, following the leaders in the core industry sectors if they are central to the coverage of the sector. Their focus on long-term returns does not obscure their view of short-term market opportunities.

“We are pleased with the continued success of our research analysts, their proactive approach and depth of experience allows Janney to be leaders within our industry” expressed Jack Hughes, Senior Vice President, Director of Equity Capital Markets.

Established in 1832, Janney is a full-service investment firm headquartered in Philadelphia, which serves a nationwide client base through nearly 1,000 Financial Consultants in almost 100 offices located in the eastern United States. The specialists and associates at Janney’s headquarters in Philadelphia are composed of dedicated and experienced professionals who offer clients expert guidance and access to the latest information in research, wealth management, corporate and municipal finance, and financial planning. Janney is a member of the New York Stock Exchange, National Association of Securities Dealers and Securities Investors Protection Council.

In 1982, Janney was acquired by The Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company, which has allowed the firm to access a much larger capital base, while management remains independent. Today, with nearly 175 years of experience and approximately $300 million in equity capital, Janney remains an established and respected regional firm with a solid foundation and dedicated personnel.
